Who may participant

The Derwent Art Prize contest is open to all living UK and International artists over the age of 18 years old on 1st June 2019.


Europe, North America, South America, Africa, Asia (participating countries: China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Taiwan and Thailand), The Middle East (participating countries: United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Israel, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan) and Oceania (Australia, New Zealand).



  • Entries images of up to 6 recent works, in digital format (jpg, max. 1MB file size)
  • The Art Prize submitted entry (the “Work”) must be original, created in pencil (including water-soluble, pastel, graphite, charcoal or coloured pencils).
  • The Competition is open to both 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional works.
  • The work must have been completed within the last 3 (three) years.
  • There is no minimum size limit.

  1. First Prize £6,000,
  2. Second Prize £3,000,
  3. Third Prize £1,500,
  4. People’s Choice Award – Exhibition £750,
  5. Young Artist will awarded – For artists under 25 years £750,
  6. Coloured Pencil Award for Excellence – £500.

Entry fees

The derwent art prize entry fee is £15 for the first work and £5 for additional works.
